The production on this album is surprisingly awful. Exocrine is an extraordinary band, but I never would have picked this up outside of a label sub. Maelstrom would be another masterpiece if it didn’t have lawn sprinklers going off throughout every track. Thankfully they didn’t make the same mistakes again.

Hype is a funny thing. Usually when I hear everywhere "Dude this shit is 🔥" or even the dreaded and oft-used "AOTY!!" bullshit, I roll my eyes. And I rolled my eyes last year on the hype train for Carnosus. But again, for every thousandth breathless fanboy review I've seen, sometimes the album exceeds the expectation. So I will confidently tell you that, yes, "This shit is 🔥" as I wait for Willowtip to release that sweet Green Ghostly vinyl variant domestically 🤣 Finally a win for my wallet!
